SONG OF THE MONTH: "FOREVER I'M YOURS"
FOREVER I'M YOURS

This song was dangerously close to never seeing the light of day. “Forever I’m Yours” was actually ready for release in 2015. The song had been mastered, a friend of mine did the photoshoot, all that remained was the cover art.
My “official” vocation at the time was graphic design—so no excuses there—still, this song sat in my digital vault for two years. Why? I came to a false conclusion about my giftings and God’s ability to use me to make him famous.
Life happened. Circumstances and obstacles became big in my eyes. My music career was not playing out the way the industry said it needed too. The list goes on. It became painfully clear while watching the movie La La Land one night (Ha!), that I had given up on my God-inspired desires. Like the servant who hid his talent in the Parable of Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), I had taken my gift and buried it.
One of the scriptures that inspired “Forever I’m Yours” is Mark 12:30. “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” I was withholding my talent—part of myself—from him, from his use. God used La La Land to wake me up and see my lack of faith.
I don’t have all the answers, but I know that God is worthy of more than despair and doubt. He is able to take our little and make it much, but we must have faith in him and give—ourselves. When Jesus comes back for his talent, when he comes back for “me,” I endeavor to give him all the honor, all of me. “Forever I’m Yours” is just the beginning of my investment in his fame.
